Every direct flight into Koh Samui (USM) in 2026: Bangkok, Phuket, Krabi, Chiang Mai, Pattaya, Singapore and Hong Kong, with airlines and weekly frequencies.
Which Cities Fly Direct to Koh Samui?
Seven Thai and foreign cities have year-round or summer non-stop flights to Koh Samui (USM) in 2026: Bangkok (two airports), Phuket, Krabi, Chiang Mai, Pattaya (U-Tapao), Singapore and Hong Kong. Bangkok Airways flies almost all of them. Scoot adds Singapore, and Berjaya Air runs a small charter from Subang (Kuala Lumpur). Nothing from Europe, Australia, China or India lands here without a change of plane.
USM is a private airport built by Bangkok Airways in 1989, with one 2,100 m runway. That runway only fits narrow-body jets and turboprops (A319, E190-E2, ATR 42/72), so no long-haul aircraft can land. That is the whole reason the map looks the way it does: short hops from Thai hubs and two regional jets from Singapore and Hong Kong. Every figure below comes from named schedule sources checked on 1 October 2026, and each route row says how firm it is.
Key takeaways
- Busiest by far: Bangkok Suvarnabhumi (BKK), about 21 flights a day, 75-95 min. See flights to Koh Samui from Bangkok.
- Other Thai routes: Phuket (7-8 daily), Krabi (1-2 daily), Chiang Mai (daily, summer 2026 schedule), Don Mueang (about 3 daily) and Pattaya (summer only).
- Abroad: Singapore (Scoot 4 daily, Bangkok Airways paused from 25 Oct 2026), Hong Kong (daily per aggregator listings), Malaysia (charter only).
- Winter 2026/27 schedules (from 25 Oct) are only partly published, so confirm before you book; see seasonal flights to Koh Samui.
Every Direct Route Into USM
The table lists each non-stop route, the airline, the number of flights per week in each direction, and the typical gate-to-gate time. “Summer” means the IATA summer season, 29 March to 24 October 2026. Frequencies are snapshots from AeroRoutes and flight-schedule aggregators, not a timetable, and they move with the season.

Bangkok: The Main Route
Bangkok is the only route with real choice of times (see flights to Koh Samui from Bangkok): about 21 Bangkok Airways flights a day from Suvarnabhumi and roughly 3 a day from Don Mueang. Flight time is 75-95 min. Guide-wide one-way fares run from about 2,300 to 6,600 THB (~66-189 USD), depending on date and fare class, per the OutThailand Bangkok-Samui guide.
Thai Airways puts its code on some Bangkok Airways flights (TG59xx numbers), but it does not fly its own aircraft here. It ran two daily Bangkok flights from 2008 to 2018 and then left. Old listings that show “Thai Airways to Samui” are codeshares or out of date.
Suvarnabhumi is the better choice if you connect to an international flight, because it is the main hub. Don Mueang has far fewer Samui flights, so check which airport your ticket uses before you book a separate onward flight.
Which Other Thai Cities Fly Direct?
Phuket is the busiest non-Bangkok link, at 7-8 ATR flights a day and 55-60 min in the air. Krabi has 1-2 a day, Chiang Mai runs daily on an A319 (PG241, Samui 08:55 to Chiang Mai 10:40; PG242, Chiang Mai 11:35 to Samui 13:20; summer 2026 schedule; fares from about 2,700 THB on sale, 6,000-9,000 THB typical, see Chiang Mai to Koh Samui), and Pattaya (U-Tapao) has a daily summer flight. The AeroRoutes April 2026 notice cut Phuket from 8 to 7 daily and Krabi from 2 to 1 daily for May and June, so levels vary.
Krabi is the row with the clearest conflict. AeroRoutes shows one daily flight in May and June, while one aggregator shows 14 a week for August. Treat it as one to two daily. Chiang Mai is listed daily (7 a week) for 29 March to 24 October 2026, and its winter 2026/27 schedule is not yet confirmed. The Pattaya flight (PG294, about 17:20 to 18:25) is listed only for the summer season, so winter status is unconfirmed. The domestic flights guide covers each of these cities, including Hua Hin, which has no flight.
If your city is not here, fly to Bangkok, or to Surat Thani on the mainland and take a ferry. Thai AirAsia, Nok Air and Thai Vietjet fly to Surat Thani (URT), and the combined minivan-and-ferry ticket to the island costs about 550-850 THB (~16-24 USD), for 3-5 hours door to door. See Surat Thani to Koh Samui. For Phuket and Krabi overland and by sea as well as by air, see Phuket and Krabi to Koh Samui.
Singapore: Scoot and Bangkok Airways
Singapore has two airlines, which makes it the best-served international route. Scoot started on 13 May 2024 and has flown 4 times a day (28 a week) since 1 December 2025 on an Embraer E190-E2 with 112 seats. Flights leave Singapore at about 07:00, 10:00, 16:00 and 17:35, per Mainly Miles. Block time is about 2 hours (115-125 min); the “3 hours” seen on some sites is the time-zone gap, not flight time.
Bangkok Airways flies an A319 on the same route, normally 17 a week, cut to 14 a week from 21 April to 24 October 2026. It then pauses Samui-Singapore from 25 October 2026 to 28 March 2027, according to an aeroTELEGRAPH report of 3 June 2026. One earlier aeroTELEGRAPH item (17 April 2026) said the route was suspended from 21 April to 24 October; AeroRoutes schedule data of 21 April shows 14 a week instead, so check bangkokair.com for your date. I could not find Scoot’s winter 2026/27 schedule, so check it on scoot.com before you plan a winter trip. More on Singapore and Hong Kong in international flights to Koh Samui.
Hong Kong: Once a Day
Bangkok Airways flies Hong Kong to Samui daily on an A319, as PG805 and PG806. Schedule listings show departure from Samui at 11:55 until 24 October 2026 and 11:40 from 25 October. Gate-to-gate time is about 3 hours (2h59 in one tracker). The route resumed on 1 July 2023 with 3 flights a week, and the daily figure comes from schedule aggregators, not a Bangkok Airways page, so confirm before you book.
What About Malaysia?
There is no scheduled Kuala Lumpur flight. Berjaya Air, a Malaysian regional airline, launched a Subang (SZB) to Samui charter on 22 April 2026: 3 a week on a 26-seat, all-business-class ATR 72-600, about 2 hours, with a return fare of RM 3,996 (roughly 30,000 THB). One source says it runs May to December 2026, but the end date is unconfirmed.
Bangkok Airways flew Kuala Lumpur (KLIA) to Samui until 30 October 2021. It said in April 2025 that it would resume one daily flight in the fourth quarter of 2025, but no evidence shows that it did. Do not plan around it. A Malaysia trip to Samui normally connects via Bangkok or Singapore.
Which Cities Do Not Fly Direct?
Europe, Australia, China, India and the Middle East all need one change of plane. Nothing in these regions operates to USM, and the runway cannot take a widebody. Connect in Bangkok (BKK) for the most onward times and the best fare choice, or in Singapore if you are coming from Australia or via Changi. Hong Kong works for some Asian routings, at one flight a day. Per-origin guides: UK, Australia and Europe.
Some airline and booking sites still sell “flights to Koh Samui” from far-away cities. Those are connections on one ticket, usually via Bangkok, not non-stop flights. If the itinerary shows a change, it is not direct. For a longer breakdown see how to get to Koh Samui.
How Do You Check a Schedule Yourself?
Airlines publish two timetables a year. IATA’s summer season runs from the last Sunday of March to the last Sunday of October (29 March to 24 October 2026). The winter season then runs from 25 October 2026 to late March 2027. Samui routes are most likely to change at those two dates.
- Open the Bangkok Airways timetable on bangkokair.com, or scoot.com for Singapore.
- Cross-check on FlightConnections or FlightsFrom, which list direct routes from USM by month.
- Read AeroRoutes for airline announcements of cuts and starts, usually posted weeks ahead.
- Look at the date range of any flight, not just its weekday.
Once you land, Chaweng and Bophut are the nearest big beaches, and the airport to Chaweng guide covers the taxi ride.
FAQ
Can you fly direct to Koh Samui?
Yes, from Bangkok (both airports), Phuket, Krabi, Chiang Mai, Pattaya (summer only), Singapore and Hong Kong. Bangkok Airways operates almost all of them, plus Scoot from Singapore. A small Malaysian charter runs from Kuala Lumpur Subang. No European, Australian, Chinese or Indian city has a non-stop flight, because the runway is too short for long-haul aircraft.
What airlines fly to Koh Samui?
Bangkok Airways flies most routes and about 92 percent of departures in September 2026, per flight-tracking sites. Scoot flies Singapore. Berjaya Air runs a charter from Kuala Lumpur Subang. Thai Airways codeshares on some Bangkok Airways flights but has flown none of its own aircraft to Samui since 2018.
Is there a direct flight from Singapore to Koh Samui?
Yes. Scoot flies 4 times a day on an Embraer E190-E2, and Bangkok Airways flies 14-17 times a week on an A319. However, Bangkok Airways has said it will pause its Singapore route from 25 October 2026 to 28 March 2027, so winter travellers will rely on Scoot. Check its winter timetable before booking.
Is there a direct flight from Kuala Lumpur to Koh Samui?
No scheduled flight is confirmed, only a charter. Berjaya Air flies from Subang (Kuala Lumpur) 3 times a week in an all-business-class ATR 72-600 from 22 April 2026, with no confirmed end date. Bangkok Airways last flew Kuala Lumpur (KLIA) to Samui in October 2021 and has not confirmed a restart, so most travellers change planes in Bangkok or Singapore instead.
Why are flights to Samui expensive?
Bangkok Airways runs the airport and most of the routes, so there is little price competition, and the short runway limits aircraft size. One-way fares from Bangkok range from about 2,300 to 6,600 THB (~66-189 USD), depending on date. The cheaper fallback is a flight to Surat Thani and a ferry.
Can you fly direct from Europe or Australia to Koh Samui?
No. Connect in Bangkok or Singapore. Bangkok has more onward Samui flights a day, and Singapore suits Australian routings with Scoot. Book through tickets on one booking where you can, since a single ticket protects a missed connection.
