Seasonal and Charter Flights to Koh Samui (2026/27)

Which Koh Samui flights run part of the year: U-Tapao to 24 Oct 2026, Berjaya charter from Subang, no Bangkok Airways Singapore from 25 Oct.

Koh Samui has a few flights that run only part of the year. The U-Tapao (Pattaya) route is on the summer 2026 schedule, which ends 24 October 2026. The Berjaya Air charter from Kuala Lumpur Subang started 22 April 2026. Bangkok Airways has announced it will suspend Samui to Singapore from 25 October 2026 to 28 March 2027, while Scoot’s Singapore service was raised to four daily flights from December 2025. Bangkok flights run all year, about 21 a day from Suvarnabhumi and about 3 from Don Mueang.

Key takeaways (checked 1 Oct 2026)

  • Airline seasons switch on the last weekend of October and March: summer 29 Mar-24 Oct 2026, winter from 25 Oct 2026.
  • Bangkok Airways Samui to Singapore is suspended 25 Oct 2026-28 Mar 2027 (Aerotelegraph, 3 Jun 2026). Scoot is a separate service, so confirm its winter times.
  • U-Tapao to Samui is confirmed only to 24 Oct 2026. No winter timetable was found.
  • No dated source shows a seasonal or charter route from China or Europe.

When do the flight seasons change?

Airlines plan in two IATA seasons. Summer runs from the last Sunday of March to the last Saturday of October, winter from the last Sunday of October to the last Saturday of March. For 2026 that means summer 29 March-24 October and winter from 25 October 2026 to late March 2027. Routes start, stop or change frequency on these dates.

Bangkok Airways, which owns and runs Samui airport, filed its summer 2026 changes in April 2026 (AeroRoutes). Its full winter 2026/27 Samui timetable was not published in any source found on 1 October 2026, so treat winter times as unconfirmed until the airline shows them. Hong Kong is listed daily by aggregators in both seasons, but no airline timetable confirms it.

Which Koh Samui flights run only part of the year?

Few routes are truly seasonal. Most change frequency (the full year-round list is in Koh Samui flight routes). The clearest changes found are in the table, with the date each source was published.

The U-Tapao flight, an ATR turboprop of about 65 minutes, suits visitors to Pattaya or Rayong (more in domestic flights to Koh Samui). The airline’s own page returned an error, so the timing comes from a schedule listing. Winter status is unknown. Note the pattern: the cuts listed sit in April-October, none in December-January.

Is there a Koh Samui charter flight?

Yes, one is documented. Berjaya Air, a Malaysian operator, began charter packages from Kuala Lumpur Subang to Koh Samui on 22 April 2026, three times a week. It uses an ATR 72-600 with 26 all-business seats, with return fares from RM3,996 (roughly 900-1,000 USD) (Berjaya press release, 11 Mar 2026; ch-aviation).

The press release gives no end date. One aggregator reported the service as running May-December 2026, which fits a part-year charter, but the operator has not confirmed it and the end date is unconfirmed. Packages include 30 kg checked baggage. Check the current operating dates with Berjaya before planning around it.

How do peak months change seats and fares?

December-January and July-August are the busy months, the same windows this site’s booking guide flags for ferries. Samui carried 65% of Bangkok Airways passengers in 2025 (TTR Weekly), and the airline has almost no rival on Bangkok to Samui, so fares rise rather than seats being added.

Bangkok to Samui one-way fares range from about 2,300 to 6,600 THB (~66-189 USD) across the year, per OutThailand’s guide. Booked around six months out, fares start near 2,500 THB (~71 USD), and last-minute tickets can cost 40% more (see when to book). Seats rarely run out, but cheap fare classes do, mainly over Christmas-New Year and Songkran.

The 2026 cuts above sit in April-October, and airline bookings for April-September 2026 were up only 1% on the year at 16 March (TTR Weekly). Weather is a separate question: see best time to visit Koh Samui. For the airport itself, read the Koh Samui airport guide.

Are there seasonal flights from China or Europe?

No dated source was found. One aggregator listing mentions a Chengdu route not yet operating, and a Wikipedia table lists Chengdu with no start date, so neither is treated as confirmed. Nothing was found for direct Europe-Samui flights, seasonal or charter. An aggregator lists only Bangkok Airways and Scoot on the airport, plus the Berjaya charter above.

Most visitors from China or Europe connect through Bangkok (see international flights to Koh Samui), then fly the Bangkok leg. See how to get to Koh Samui for the ferry alternative via Surat Thani. Beach choice then depends on the season: Chaweng is the busiest in peak months.

How do you check before booking?

Open the operator’s own booking page for the exact date, because a route can exist in one month and vanish the next. Look at the schedule for the flight number (PG294 for U-Tapao, for example). Compare the outbound and return dates against 24 October and late March, when seasons switch.

Do this before paying for hotels. Bangkok Airways publishes its routes at bangkokair.com, Scoot at flyscoot.com, Berjaya via its press page. If a seasonal route is missing, fly Bangkok to Samui, or go via Phuket or Krabi, then fly or ferry on.

FAQ

Does Bangkok Airways fly from Singapore to Koh Samui in winter 2026/27?

Not according to Aerotelegraph, which reported on 3 June 2026 that Bangkok Airways will suspend Samui to Singapore from 25 October 2026 to 28 March 2027. Scoot runs its own Singapore service and went to four daily flights in December 2025. No winter Scoot timetable was found, so check before booking.

Is the Pattaya (U-Tapao) flight to Samui available in winter?

It is confirmed only for the summer 2026 schedule, 29 March-24 October, as daily PG294 at 17:20. No winter 2026/27 timetable was found. Look for PG294 on Bangkok Airways’ booking page for your dates, since the flight may be dropped or changed after 24 October.

Is the Berjaya Air charter open to anyone?

It is sold as charter packages, three weekly from Kuala Lumpur Subang, on a 26-seat all-business ATR 72-600. Return fares started from RM3,996 (roughly 900-1,000 USD) in March 2026, with a RM200 hotel voucher. The end date was not published, so confirm with Berjaya.

Are flights to Koh Samui more expensive in December and January?

Yes, in general. Fares from Bangkok range from about 2,300 to 6,600 THB (~66-189 USD) one-way over the year, and last-minute fares can run 40% higher. Bangkok Airways has almost no rival on the route, so booking about six months ahead keeps the cheaper fare classes available.

Checklist

Before you go

Three things worth checking for this journey, each with the guide that covers it.

  1. Book ahead for peak dates

Seats rarely sell out outside Christmas, New Year and Songkran, but the cheap fares go first. Book flights and peak-season boats well ahead.

    When to book
  2. Leave time for a self-transfer

On separate tickets a late first flight is your problem, not the airline's. Allow three to four hours in Bangkok.

    International connections
  3. Check the bag allowance

Budget airlines usually charge extra for checked bags, while Bangkok Airways economy includes 20 kg. Compare the final price with bags.
