Halfmoon announced a winter season from December 2025 to February 2026 with more than 20 international DJs on Koh Phangan.

About this event

Halfmoon Festival began in 2002 and is billed as an underground alternative to the beach parties on Koh Phangan. Mixmag has called it 'dedicated to the music' and noted that it has been running for more than 20 years. The 2025 to 2026 winter season was announced in blocks: line-ups for August to December 2025 first, then a winter announcement.

The format has two sides. Day one is a daytime party at Harmony Beach Club, with beachside performances, games and pool access. The next night moves to the Magical Forest, a coconut garden in the Ban Tai jungle, with three stages. Jao Pattanasiri, who had run Harmony Club and Zoom Beach Club since 1999, helped to start the festival. Because the schedule is released in seasons, ticket pages for individual dates appear on the ticketing platform as each line-up is released.

The facts

  1. The announced line-up was led by Neelix, Blazy, Blastoyz, Ghost Rider and Liquid Soul.
  2. Each event runs over two days: day one at Harmony Beach Club, day two in the Ban Tai jungle at the Magical Forest on three stages, Prime Stage, G Floor and The Cave.
  3. DJs Jao Pattanasiri and Oren Mizrachi founded the festival in 2002. By 2024 it ran every two weeks.

Festivals and culture on Koh Phangan

Most Phangan residents are Thai and many follow Buddhist traditions, so the festival calendar follows the lunar year. Songkran in mid-April brings water fights and ceremonies, and Loy Krathong on the November full moon is a night of floating lanterns and small baskets. Buddhist holy days also affect the island's nightlife: alcohol sales are restricted, and Full Moon Party dates can shift by a day. Temples worth a visit include Wat Phu Khao Noi, about 2 km from Thong Sala, and Wat Khao Tham in the hills above Ban Tai. Holy days move each year, so check dates close to travel.

Around Ban Tai

Ban Tai, or Baan Tai, is on Phangan's south coast, about a 10-minute drive south of Thong Sala according to one listing. It is the base for the island's forest parties: the Halfmoon Magic Forest is about ten minutes inland from the Ban Tai strip, and Jungle Experience and a weekly Friday jungle party also stage nights in the trees. On the beach, Ku Club is an open-air venue with resident performers. Wat Khao Tham, a hillside temple and meditation centre, overlooks the coast from above the village. Songthaew pick-ups serve the area.
