Two markets that aren't night markets
Laem Din and Hua Thanon run by day, not at night, but both explain a lot about how the island eats. Laem Din is Chaweng's everyday fresh market; Hua Thanon is a working fishing-village market where the morning catch comes straight off the boats.

Yes, for a different reason: they're where residents actually shop and fish, not evening entertainment. Laem Din is a daytime fresh market in Chaweng; Hua Thanon is a fishing-village fish market, both better as a morning visit than a night out.
Do the night markets take card payments
Mostly no. Stalls are small and cash-based, so bring baht in small notes and coins. A few larger vendors near the main entrances sometimes accept transfers or cards, but don't count on it.
Which market should a first-time visitor pick
Fisherman's Village in Bophut is the easiest starting point: a confirmed night, a walkable promenade and a mix of food and stalls. Chaweng Walking Street runs more nights if Bophut's schedule doesn't line up with yours.
