This dial plots the astronomical full moon against Haad Rin's own party schedule, moon by moon. Most months the two line up. When Haad Rin moves the party for a Buddhist holiday, the dates split, and this page marks that split rather than quietly picking one date and calling it the party.
Haad Rin's organisers move the party off the astronomical full moon when it falls on or near a Buddhist holiday, and republish the schedule as the year goes on. Where only their own list carries a date, it counts as provisional here, not settled, until an independent source agrees with it.

The crossing that has no boat home
These are the scheduled ferry crossings between Koh Samui and Koh Phangan, and what each one publishes, if anything, for the sailing back. The party runs from dusk to dawn; the table below is about the boats, not the party.
Every scheduled sailing back to Samui that could be verified finishes in the late afternoon, well before the party even starts, and none picks up again until the following morning. There is no timetabled boat through the night. People who stay cross back on a private charter speedboat booked directly with an operator, at whatever time and price that operator sets that night, not on any published schedule, so decide how you are getting back before you leave Samui, not after.

Questions about the full moon party
Is the party always on the night of the full moon?
No. Haad Rin's organisers shift it off the astronomical date for Buddhist holidays, usually by a day or two either way. This page treats the moon and the party night as two separate facts rather than assuming they match.
How sure can I be about a party date far in the future?
Less sure the further out it is. Nearer dates are backed by two independent sources; most of the year ahead comes only from the organiser's own list, marked provisional here, and that list gets revised.
Can I catch a scheduled boat back to Samui after the party?
Not on any route we could verify. Every scheduled sailing back finishes in the late afternoon, hours before the party starts, and none resumes before morning.
How do people actually get back overnight, then?
On a private charter speedboat arranged directly with an operator, not on a published timetable. Times and prices vary by operator and by the weather that night, so this page does not print a schedule that does not exist.
Which pier do the ferries actually leave from?
It depends on the operator: some sail from Haad Rin itself, others from Thong Sala, both on Koh Phangan. The crossing table on this page lists each route's own pier.
