About this event

Samui Summer Jazz grew out of the Samui Jazz Series, a set of monthly jazz nights on the island, and out of the International Samui Jazz Festival, which ran in September 2010 with Saskia Laroo among its guests. The 2022 edition came after an eight-year gap. It was presented by Skal International Koh Samui, sponsored by Imagine Samui and organised with the Sisters on Samui foundation.

The week was part of the Skal International Thailand #ReDiscoverThailand campaign, meant to help tourism recover after the pandemic closures. The format spreads the concerts over hotels instead of using a single stage, with one venue for each evening. Time Out Bangkok and W Travel Magazine published the announcement, so check the listing for the specific night you want to attend before you plan the evening.

  1. 1 Over six nights, jazz and world-music artists from the Netherlands, the USA and Thailand played at resorts including Centara Reserve, U Samui, SEEN Beach Club, SALA Samui, Santiburi and Melia.

Live music on Koh Samui

Live music on Samui is spread across the evening bar strips rather than one venue. Chaweng Beach Road has bars with house bands playing rock, reggae and pop covers, plus a small jazz club. Lamai leans towards reggae and rock bands, and Bophut's Fisherman's Village suits a quieter drink with a singer or duo. Larger club nights bring in visiting international performers, usually announced a few weeks ahead on the club's own channels. Resorts also host jazz and beach concerts now and then. Most nights start late, so expect the main acts after 22:00.
