About this event
Maenam Walking Street is a Thursday night market in Mae Nam on the north coast of Koh Samui. It runs from about 17:00 to 23:00 according to Hotels.com, although some sources say it closes around 22:00. The street is only about 200 metres long and lies a few minutes' walk from Mae Nam Beach.
Stalls sell corn on the cob and sweets, denim, T-shirts, sunglasses, second-hand clothes and handicrafts, and mobile cocktail bars serve drinks from carts. On some nights young Thai musicians play live. Finding a parking space nearby can be difficult, so one guide suggests arriving before 18:00. Because sources differ on the closing time, plan to be there in the early evening, and keep the Friday market in Fisherman's Village in Bophut in mind as the other north-coast option.

Markets on Koh Samui
Samui's night markets rotate through the week. Fisherman's Village in Bophut closes its main street on Fridays, the biggest night, with smaller editions on Monday and Wednesday. Maenam holds a short walking street on Thursdays from about 17:00, where parking is easiest before 18:00. Lamai closes Beach Road on Sunday afternoons until about 22:00. Chaweng has a night market most evenings, and Nathon's market near the pier starts around 16:00 and is mostly local. Go hungry: grilled seafood, corn and noodles are the standard stalls, and clothes and souvenirs fill the rest.
Around Maenam
Maenam is a long, quiet beach on the north coast, with views of Koh Phangan. Its best-known weekly event is the Thursday walking street, a short strip of roughly 200 metres with snacks, clothes and mobile cocktail bars, open from about 17:00. Parking nearby is tight, and a source advises arriving before 18:00. The village has many small restaurants, with Thai and European cooking. Evenings are calm rather than loud, and some beachfront hotels host festive buffets and New Year's Eve dinners.
